What this site offers

This dynamic website and open educational resource (OER) shares the outcomes of an ongoing academic project on culture, communication, and digital technologies. Here you will find:

• A growing, searchable collection of research
  Peer-reviewed articles and chapters exploring research and theory in this interdisciplinary field, with filters that allow you to focus on themes and topics, geographic location, year of publication, and more. Where possible, entries include abstracts and brief summary notes.
• A way to contribute new work
  An invitation to suggest additional or new articles that address questions in this area of study, so the collection can continue to grow and reflect diverse perspectives.
• Our 2025 review of the field
  A synthesis of the corpus of work we compiled that was published between 2003 and 2023 – the period that Wellman (2011) describes as the Third Age of internet studies.
